Wow a massive post with only one intention. Take your time and study the ways, how this designers reached their goal of creating a special atmosphere. The main tools are rhythem and pace of the music track, scene and camera switches etc. but you can digg deeper.
Approach your goals from a different direction. Work without music, or make music without instruments. Make animations without real animations (Check out the compress reel by david OReilly. Its awesom!). Play a little bit and set yourself free from your standart style.
OR try to make a normal animation and strengthen it just through the change and adding of little details. 		David OReilly
