In my Opinion:

An awesome matte painting piece by Tom Hiebler, a german (flame) artist. Check out his impressive Showreel at the bottom of the page. He works for Pro Sieben a german tv station. It’s funny because I often saw his clips while whatching and always wondered who produced such great mographs.

About:

“After finishing technical school I started to work in 1998 as a compositing artist for Brugerfilm, an Austrian film and postproduction company. I soon became leader of the FX department and worked there until 2002. After that period I started my career as a freelancer. At that time I moved to Berlin and worked in Germany as a flame artist for different companies.

Since 2003 I also work as an visual effect supervisor and matte painter. In this period I designed many FX shots and paintings for commercials, music videos and feature films. I did more than 200 commercial projects in the last 10 years, including companies like Nike, Mc-Donalds, Citroen, Coca Cola, Volkswagen and many more. In the last 2 years I have put my focus on film projects and my passion in doing matte paintings.
Moreover, I did many matte paintings including 2D and 3D paintings. Therefore I’m using Photoshop, Maya, Vued and lots of other software. I take photos by myself that I require for my paintings.” via HP
